Hand over that string of numbers and you might as well hand them your keys. A single code can unlock a new account, link a fresh card, or quietly drain your balance in minutes. By the time the realization lands, the money often has too.
The cleanest defense? Treat anything on your screen as classified. Codes, balances, order numbers—all for your eyes only. If a caller pressures you, hang up and dial the company's official line yourself. A thirty-second pause almost always pays for itself.
