A well-meaning favor at work somehow turns into a sit-down with the boss — and Xiaohongshu can't stop talking about it.
A recent Xiaohongshu post is hitting close to home: the poster pitched in on a small favor for a colleague, and ended up summoned for a formal chat. The comments filled up fast with nearly identical stories.
In a lot of offices, the gap between "being helpful" and "stepping out of line" is paper-thin. Take over a task without asking, and you've overstepped; offer a bit of unsolicited advice, and it reads as going over someone's head. Suddenly, a kind gesture needs defending.
It's less about good intentions and more about unclear boundaries. A casual "need a hand?" usually beats a puzzled "why did you do that?" later. Help shows up best when it asks first.
