Down at the waterfront, the barbecue stall owner winces and re-ties his tent ropes, while the convenience store next door posts a polite "two rolls of tape per customer" sign. The line for that tape, locals note, is now better organized than the storm itself.
Whether White Dolphin will actually make landfall remains an open question — forecasters are still glued to their screens. But the sea breeze has already tipped over the flower pots on the balcony, so maybe bring in the laundry rack first.
